Perfection

My Grandma Call had a house full of big boys during the great depression. She had to find a way to feed those big guys with very limited resources. One of her recipes she called Depression Meat Pie. She passed on the recipe to my mother who taught me how to make it. Needless to say, it is comfort food to the max! We need some comfort so I whipped this up and thought I would post it. It is not being used as our recipe of the week-just thought you might like to try it.

As children, we ate our meat pie covered in brown gravy. It was so yummy all the time.

My kids love it with country gravy on it. It is also very yummy!

I don't really have a recipe that I follow but this is how I make it.

DEPRESSION MEAT PIE

A pie crust-top and bottom. I make my own

Brown 1 lb.ground beef with an onion till done. ( I actually add a little
beef boullion powder for a little extra flavor)
Add peeled, sliced potatoes(about 5-6)and almost cover with water.
Cook until done. Let the water boil down a bit and then mash everything
with a potatoe masher until combined. Put into the pie crust and cover
with a top crust. Bake at 450 until nicely browned.

Top with your favorite gravy or like my dad, ketchup!
